Since the recent CIA claims of Russian interference in the American election, the Left has begun to craft a new narrative. The narrative is that anyone who supports Trump is fundamentally anti-American, while Liberals are the last group in the country which truly loves America—the country’s only remaining patriots.
Charles Blow of the New York Times penned an opinion article last week titled “Patriotic Opposition to Donald Trump,” in which he argues that not accepting the Left-wing conspiracy theory about Russia and Trump is anti-American. (((Paul Krugman))), also at the Times, has called Trump “the Siberian candidate,” a “Russian poodle,” and stated that his supporters are “complicit in the degradation of our republic.” Keith Olbermann (draped in an American flag on his “Resistance” podcast cover) has outright called Trump’s election a Russian coup. Michael Moore has suggested that any action taken to stop Trump from taking power would be justified. These are just a few examples of Liberals trying to position themselves as patriots fighting against a hostile foreign power and its sympathizers.
This new narrative is quite amusing to anyone who has been following politics this decade, a decade which has seen the Left take on an increasingly radical anti-American ideology. The Left has been openly touting its disdain for American history, culture, and for the American people themselves for years. Now, dealt a devastating blow that they did not think possible, the Left is changing its tune. Now, they claim, they are the proud Americans, and the opposition is supporters of Russia and the illegitimate President-elect it has installed.
When the Left makes this claim, they are being disingenuous. We know it, and they know it. Trump supporters love America. They love the nation that was founded in 1776 and existed until it was transformed by mass migration in recent decades. The same America—the real America—that we love, the Left hates. When they say they love America, they mean they love the direction they think that it’s heading—or at least the direction they thought it was heading.
We, the people who wish to uphold the history and values of the historical American nation, are branded as anti-American. They, those who wish to rip apart the fabric of our country and to spread guilt about its history, are the patriotic Americans. This branding attempt will, no doubt, backfire miserably for them. When it comes to a contest of patriotism between the Right and Left, there is no contest. How can they claim to be patriots while they condemn great American heroes like Andrew Jackson and the Founding Fathers? How can they claim to be patriots while they lecture us daily about the supposed evils of our ancestors? How can they claim to be patriots while violent Leftist protesters passionately wave the flag of Mexico and other foreign nations? How can they claim to be patriots while their supporters burn American flags in the street?
The Left has conducted a campaign to discredit American history and heritage and to turn the country into something completely different. Now that we have wrested back control and stopped them short of their goal, they are claiming that actual love of country is anti-American in its essence. They are repackaging their anti-White, anti-American ideology as patriotism. No doubt the average patriotic American will notice this trick. It will be impossible for the Left to hide its disdain for America while it denigrates the country’s history and explains its plans for the future: destruction of the family, destruction of tradition, and mass migration, among other anti-American schemes.
They are, however, right about one aspect of their analysis. The United States has been divided in two: the Americans and the anti-Americans. We, the Alt Right, are a faction of the American half. The anti-Americans would be better served to show their true anti-American faces. Their cognitively dissonant movement cannot win against our message.
We should take advantage of this miscalculation in branding from the Left. For now, the anti-Americans will claim to be the true patriots. It’s our job to show the American people that they are lying. It’s our job to show the American people that we, the Alt Right, are the new patriots.
